It’s not always easy to get in the mood to exercise. Here are some tips and suggestions to help you stay focused.
- Set realistic goals so you can hold yourself accountable. But if you fail on a day, don’t quit – just refocus tomorrow.
- Don’t workout to impress others. This is your personal journey – not theirs.
- Don’t force yourself to do activities you hate. There are many ways to do cardio, as an example.
- If you don’t like pushing yourself, do things you like, especially in the beginning.
- Eat healthy most of the time, and avoid drinking too much alcohol.
- Don’t completely avoid all your favorite foods.
- Quality over quantity. Do fewer things right and less things wrong.
- You are getting fit for you – not for others. Their opinion generally shouldn’t count.
- Make sure you’re working out in a setting you enjoy. Join a new gym or get outside.
- Don’t avoid social gatherings for fear of ruining your diet. All things in moderation – just don’t gorge.
- If you are working out at home, Invest in the right equipment and workout clothes.
- Don’t take calorie and carb counting too far.
- Becoming fit is many things changing – not just one.
- Remember that great feeling you have after a workout.
- Don’t quit when it gets tough. Everyone has bad days.
- You can do it. If you don’t succeed today, you will tomorrow, or the next day.
