What should you do when you get up and just don’t feel like doing anything?
WALK.
We all have days that we don’t want to go to the gym. When that happens, and you have lost all motivation, you need to remember that one of the greatest fixes to mental and emotional blahs, is to move. Simply getting outside and walking for 30 minutes to an hour will work wonders on your mental and physical state. A quicker pace will provide the benefit of increasing your cardiovascular, but even if you don’t, the simple act of moving will help to get yourself back in a positive state of mind.
Don’t forget to drink that water also.
The one thing that almost everyone can do at any time is walking. If you are stuck at home, go walk. if you are staying with friends or relatives, walk. if you are in a hotel, walk. There generally isn’t a situation that would prevent you from simply walking for a minimum physical exercise. Even if it’s raining and you don’t have a gym membership, go to the mall and walk. You would be surprised how many people use the mall for walking on a daily basis.
One more thing, the older you are, the more important it is to walk. Your physical and mental health will decline quickly if you do not move on a daily or regular basis. I have watched the health of many older people decline at a fast rate, because they refused to get out of their chair and go for a walk.
People are meant to be physically active. With the modern workplace being centered around working on computers, our general health has declined as a society. We have to counter this by purposefully doing things to stay active. Regular visits to the gym is a great way to stay fit. But if you can’t do that, the least you can do is: Walk.
